Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Scrolling Text Generator processes, why, and the rights you have. Editing and GIF/WebM/PNG MOV rendering happen on your device. Your text stays local during those operations unless you explicitly save a cloud project. If you choose Generate Voice, the voiceover processing described below applies.

Scrolling Text is operated by Perry. Privacy requests can be sent to the contact address below.

What we process

• Your text and exports. The generator runs entirely in your browser. The text you type and the files you export (GIF/WebM/PNG MOV) are processed on your device and are kept local unless you explicitly save a design as a cloud project. Export authorization sends feature identifiers and resolution, without your text.
• Account. Google supplies your identity, email, name and avatar for sign in. We store this profile and session records to provide your account. Essential session cookies keep you signed in.
• Cloud projects. Clicking cloud save uploads the project title and generator configuration, including text, to Cloudflare D1. Projects belong to your account; you can delete them from the Projects page. Local projects are not uploaded automatically.
• Billing. Creem processes checkout and payment details. We store customer and subscription identifiers, subscription status and billing event records to provide Pro access. We do not store card numbers.
• Voiceover. When you generate a voiceover, the text and selected voice settings are sent through our Cloudflare Workers to third-party speech processing providers used to generate the requested audio. The audio is returned to your browser and is not stored as part of your cloud project unless a future feature explicitly says otherwise. We store monthly character and request counts to enforce usage limits.
• Embed links. Embed URLs contain your text and settings. Anyone you share an Embed link or snippet with can read them. New v3 links put these values in the URL fragment, which is not sent in the HTTP request; older query-string links may appear in server logs.
• Local preferences. Your generator settings and projects you choose to save are saved in your browser's localStorage. This is functional, non-tracking storage and stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.
• Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses and access logs for security, abuse prevention and service operation. Retention follows Cloudflare's standard log settings. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in operating a secure service.
• Analytics. On scrollingtext.app, we use Plausible (hosted at plausible.shipsolo.io), Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Ahrefs Analytics to measure visits, feature use and interactions. These providers receive technical information such as page URLs, browser/device details and interaction events. Google Analytics and Clarity may use cookies or similar identifiers. Clarity provides heatmaps and session replay; page text and form inputs are masked. Our feature events do not intentionally include your project text, audio or account email. These scripts do not run on Sandbox or Embed pages.

Third parties

We do not sell personal information. Cloudflare hosts the service and cloud data, Google provides authentication and Creem handles payments as merchant of record. For voiceover generation, text is currently processed through Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. The main site also requests fonts from Google Fonts when you visit it. Microsoft Azure Speech may also be used as a fallback speech provider if that provider is enabled for the service. The analytics providers listed above also process usage data under their own privacy policies, including those of Google, Microsoft, Plausible and Ahrefs.

Cookies and storage

Analytics providers may use cookies and similar storage as described above. Browser privacy settings and content blockers can restrict these requests. The functional localStorage data described above remembers your settings and local projects. Essential authentication cookies are used when you sign in; signing out ends the current session.

Your rights (EEA/UK and elsewhere)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can delete cloud projects in your account and clear local designs through browser settings. Account and billing records are retained as needed to operate your account and meet legal obligations. To request access, account deletion or another right, contact us using the email below and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Children

The service is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or the law. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be highlighted on the site before they take effect.
